What is the difference between the "Encode Writer" of this machine and just the "Writer" machines you also have listed. I'm trying to determine if I need the Encoder as well or just the writer.

Encoder and writer are the same thing.  The feature that matters the most is the ability to encode onto a Hico magnetic stripe.  You may find the following information useful.  Please let me know if you have any question.  Thank you.
