Taiwanese Firms Join US e-Venture
The Taiwan Economic News Thursday, June 8, 2000
Several Taiwan
companies have joined up with U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs to invest
substantially in Best3C Inc., a U.S.-based business-to-business e-commerce
venture. Best3C, established in
April 1999, provides a community portal, linking wholesalers and technology
product manufacturers, with a reseller auction that would enable Taiwan's
electronics manufacturers to distribute their products to resellers
worldwide.
Taiwanese companies
investing in the venture include the Mitac Group, Pacific Electric Wire &
Cable, D-Link Corp., First International Computer and Bank SinoPac, said
officials at the Taipei office of Goldman Sachs.
In addition, Best3C
has secured contracts with more than 100 local electronics firms, including Acer
Inc., Quanta Computer and Tatung Co., for participation in its B2B portal.
Best3C is expected to
chalk up aggregate revenue of US$25 million this year, the officials said.
But its business is likely to increase substantially after Best3C expands its operations to include mainland China, Japan and Europe in the near future, said the U.S. investment bank.
